Is Islam Conquering the West?

I have lived in the West most of my adult life, and I have come to realize that much of the unrest that Christians in the West experience comes directly from a lack of understanding of God’s true character. When we understand who God is, we recognize how He operates in the world. As we grasp His ways, fear vanishes. It gets replaced by peace, trust, and confidence, because we see His sovereign hand at work around the world.

The more time we spend in God’s presence, the more He allows us to zoom out and see the world from His vantage point. You stop viewing life only through the narrow lens of your upbringing, culture, politics, or news cycle. Suddenly, things look different. Imagine looking at the Earth from an astronaut’s perspective, and then further still, from God’s perspective. From there, earthly labels fall away. You are not American, Arab, European, or Asian. You are simply human, standing before the Almighty who created everything and everyone.

You will see how humanity is made in His image. There are people who already belong to Him. There are some are who are still searching. Some outright reject Him, and some do not yet realize how much they need Him.

Across oceans, mountains, and borders, God still sees one world, a creation He longs to redeem.

When you feel panic rise over the state of the world, the answer is always to return to that secret place with God. It is there that we find the peace and strength to continue the fight that is spiritual above all. For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the darkness that pervades this world.

As Christians, we must always remember that the world was never meant to be at peace and never will be. This truth should not discourage us from doing the work God has called us to do on earth. Yet, we must approach it with humility, knowing that the devil still rules in this world. Until Jesus returns, we will continue waging war against his kingdom. The sooner we accept this, the more effectively we can labor to save souls for the Kingdom of God.

The world swings back and forth like a pendulum. There is nothing new under the sun.

And when that pendulum of ideas swing from the East to the West, Christian should stop and meditate. Do not be afraid of Islam taking over the West. Neither be afraid of Muslims. These are people deeply devoted to the divine but spiritually blind to see the truth. They are like any other groups of people in a desperate need of a true Savior.

Consider this, if God keeps bringing Muslims to the West, that means He has a plan. And that plan is for them to hear the Good News of the Gospel directly from the Church. God has brought the harvest into our backyards. Those backyards are safe. It is much safer to minister to a Muslim here in the West than in the East. God is literally saying to the Church in the West, “Here are my sheep, feed them.”

Christians should not fear the expansion of Islam in the East, because millions of Muslims are continue to encounter Christ.

Christians in the West also need to understand how secular most of the Muslim world is. The vast majority of Muslims do not practice Islam. A huge number of them reject it not only because they are converting to other religions but simply because they do not believe Islam to be true. Those who live under oppressive Islamic totalitarian governments have enough reasons and experience to questioning its validity. When these individuals migrate to the West, it is often driven by a desire to embrace the freedoms and values that Western societies offer. Many Muslims move not to spread their faith, but to escape the oppression they experienced under the Islamic rule. The majority of Muslim immigrants appreciate the freedom that the West has to offer often more than the native-born.

Muslim migrants assimilate. It is impossible to live in a country with its unique culture and identity without being shaped by it. Assimilation is a natural process that no one can truly avoid.

Christians in the West should also not fear the Islamization of the world, because the truth is that Islam has never been truly united. For it to conquer the world, it would need a leader capable of creating unity within the community, across countries, and in its teachings. The diversity within Islam is immense, and in my view, this is exactly what is contributing to its decline.

After Muhammad’s death, the movement fractured, and it has remained divided ever since. Sunnis and Shias disagree on core doctrines. Minority groups are often persecuted. Wealthy Arab nations cooperate only when it suits their interests. Extremists exist, yes, but so do countless secular Muslims who are disillusioned with both their religion and their governments.

More Muslims are leaving Islam today than at any other point in history. Some come to Christ through dreams and visions, while others walk away after recognizing its emptiness.

In the West, some are drawn to Islam, but it is not because of migrants. Many are searching for structure in a society that has abandoned truth and lost its moral bearings. Humans were made for order, tradition, and discipline. Unfortunately, protestant Christianity has rejected these God-given structures that help humans flourish. It has created a generation of Christians who are apathetic, jaded, and weary of the surface-level worship.

This is where the fascination with Islam in the West comes in. It is less a sign of spiritual revival and more a reaction against secularism and superficial evangelicalism. It is a rebellion, not a lasting transformation. Give them a few years, and most will have moved on from Islam. Let them get it out of their system.

The Islamization of the West through migration is unlikely to happen because most Muslim migrants are not coming to spread Islam. They are fleeing tyranny, escaping persecution, but most importantly economic prosperity. The idea of “Islamizing the West” is far from their minds. Migration brings its own unique sets of challenges which naturally leads to assimilation. You need to follow the rules and laws of the land to thrive financially. Humans are also shaped by the cultures in which they live. Even America, with all its trials and attacks on its foundations continues to retain a remarkably strong identity. And immigrants inevitably adapt to it. Migration is rarely a conquest; it is survival, resilience, and hope.

When we step back and view migration, wars, and suffering from God’s perspective, something divinely prophetic occurs. Jesus uses tragedy to save souls. Today, many in the East grow weary of Islamic rule and are leaving Islam behind. Meanwhile, the West, though steeped in secularism, remains searching for meaning and identity. Some rediscover Christ, others wander. And in the midst of it God is still sovereign.

If the fear of Islam’s conquest lingers in your mind, then you must pray and act. The Church in the West must awaken and strengthen itself. We also have to remember that across both regions, God continues to write His story. From East to the West all is God’s territory where God calls His image-bearers to Himself.

Christians in the West should not fear Islamization through migration because Islam is weak and divided. We have always be reminded that the real battle is spiritual, not cultural or political. When Christians are deeply rooted in Christ, they become powerful instruments against the demonic kingdom of darkness. The spirits behind Islam are not stronger than the Holy Spirit within us. The devil will flee from you once you recognize your authority as an heir of the Kingdom of God.

And remember the question is not whether Islam will overtake the West. The question is whether the Church will awaken from its slumber and wage war against the spiritual forces of this world. And when it does, darkness cannot endure.
